With rounded sides encircled by two shallow moulded ribs just below an angular shoulder, and tapering int the cylindrical neck, set on either side of which are a pair of handles shaped like stylized dragons; spreading mouth rim, and turned out foot. The outside is covered with a rich and lustrous copper-red glaze and the inside with a glaze of opaque greyish-blue, splashes of which are applied also to the outside, forming purplish transmutations with the red. On the base the glaze is a patchy olive-green and brown.

Comments:

The yaobian 窯變 "transmutations" that could arise during the firing of copper red were first exploited during the reign of Yongzheng (1723-1735). A few spots of cobalt have been added here.
